Last week Braden had a routine sonogram of his brain. The doctors found that he had a small hemorrage. Braden had another sonogram on Wednesday and the findings are that the small amount of hemorrage/blood that they saw on the last sonogram is still there. Luckily, it has not moved nor has it grown. The blood is located in one of the ventricles in his brain. At this time they are going to continue watching him and will repeat the sonogram next Wednesday. They do not feel that surgery is necessary at this time. If they do surgery later, it will be to insert a shunt in his head. The shunt is a tube that will drain fluid out of the brain. We are praying that the body will take care of this itself and reabsorb the blood that is there.
The good news is that his lungs have improved quite a bit. The doctors feel that he is proboby ready to come off the oscillating ventilator! Braden will have to go back to his regular ventilator, but that's still an improvement!
Overall, Braden is doing quite well. For having been born at just 24 weeks of gestation, he is showing such strength! By the grace of God and the loving care of his medical staff, he has had no surgeries nor has he had any major setbacks. He does have really bad days and really good days. Braden needs your prayers for more good days and the strength to make it through the bad days.
Thanks for stopping by to check on him. We'll definitely post any news as soon as we hear anything. Many blessing to you all!
