Braden Got a Pacifier

Braden now weighs 2 pounds 9 ounces! That is such great news! We can't wait for him to reach the 3 pound mark. We plan on having a 3 Pound Party when he gets there. So if you live near Dallas, plan on attending the 3 Pound Party and bring 3 pounds of something!

He is only on 1 antibiotic. The doctors will run another set of tests to see if the infection is completely clear and if so, Braden will get off the antibiotic tomorrow. Braden is still on the ventilator that helps his lungs to function properly. Thankfully, Braden is slowly beginning to breathe more and more on his own. It will most likely be a slow process and getting him off that machine may take a while. But it's for the best and he seems to be responding very well to that machine. They do regular x-rays on his lungs to check on their development. Some days there is no development and other days there is a little bit of development. Again, we are left to wait and pray that our little fighter will get through this.

Last night, Annie and Steve spent a lot of time with Braden. He opened his eyes and gazed at them. The sweetest news is that Braden's nurses gave him his first pacifier. It's tiny! The mouth piece is about 2 centimeters long. And even though it is very small, it's a bit too large for Braden's small mouth. But he does suck on it and it is the CUTEST thing!

Thanks again for stopping by to check on our little angel. Special thanks for all your prayers...keep them coming!

Dearest Braden,
You are getting to be a much bigger boy - I am impressed with your 2 lbs. 9 oz. report. Also your one month birthday is quite a milestone and should be recognized. Gramy and Grandbob have a monthly birthday idea planned and will tell you about it later. Your courageous battle to show us all your strength and fortitude is inspiring. With great help from God, family, and health care you are doing a fabulous job of showing us all what hard work is all about.

Love to you, our darling, and those that care for you, your Mom and Dad at the top of the list. You will have to help them celebrate their first anniversary this coming Sunday.

Love and phantom-hugs from Gramy and Grandbob

Dear Braden -
All the nurses here in L&D at Denton Community Hospital (we changed to Presbyterian Hospital of Denton on April 1st) were so excited to here of your progress! Although we haven't gotten to meet you in person, we look forward to the day when your Mommy and Daddy will bring you by for a visit. Stay strong and know that we pray for you and your family every day.
