We wanted to give everyone the latest update on Braden's condition. Yesterday morning, his lungs had almost completely collapsed. They had to put him on a special ventilator which basically breathes completely for him. He was also given a medicine to help with the situation. This medicine appears to be causing his blood pressure to slip. X-rays done early yesterday morning vs. later in the day showed a mild improvement at best, no change at worst. This morning hasn't shown us any real improvement, but also no downgrade. The nurses are monitoring him around the clock and are confident his condition will improve. Most preemies face these same challenges, Braden had just got our hopes up so high when he was going along so smoothly. These situations are not uncommon and should be fully treatable with this ventilator and medication. He is having to stay sedated most of the time, due to when awake, his natural reaction is to try to breath on his own, which works against us with this new ventilator. We'll try to update ASAP hopefully with good news. For anyone looking for updates, please just check back to this BLOG. Right now everything is so stressful and difficult that it makes it almost impossible to take phone calls. Thanks for your concern and we'll keep you posted.

I must say that yesterday was probably one of the hardest days for me. Not just because Braden is on a new machine with an entirely new diagnosis, but also because Steve and Annie look so sad. Their faces are not seen on this blogger but trust me you will want to cry when you see them. They are tired, worried and very stressed! They have not given up hope but it's hard to hide when your heart is breaking.
Please remember Annie and Steve when you say your prayers for Braden.

We have not stopped praying for Braden, or his Mom and Dad. Hopefully, this crisis will be a short-lived one and Braden will soon be back to breathing on his own. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

You do not know me. But from what I can tell Annie's family is there for you guys 24-7 and that is your support group. We can not be there because of our work, and money issues but if we could we would, we would love to send you money for gas or food. If not to see Braden but to be there for you two. Steve and Annie you are blessed to have your family there with you day and night. I wish more families were like that. If I could see your face through all this I would see two of the strongest people, who love there child very much. You bring joy and sadness at the same time to my heart but know all the way from Washington State to Baylor in Dallas Texas my heart is there with you.

Annie and Steve-
Your Mom called me today to update us on Braden. She is such a special person, and it is so kind of her to take the time to let us know how Braden is doing. We haven't been blessed to meet Braden in person yet, but we are looking forward to the day when you will bring him for a visit. You all have a special place in our hearts and all of the nurses here in Denton are praying for you!

You guys hang in there. Although those of us who have never went through this can't replicate your exact feelings, we still hurt for you. You have to be strong for Braden now more than ever. If you have confidence and keep your chin up, the good Lord will make everything right for you. Little Braden is seeing some difficult times right now, but they WILL get better, you must believe that. Thanks for all the updates, good or bad, we are praying hard and pulling for you guys. Remember those who have faith will have everything they need!
